For business that export solar electricity to the grid then the rateable value will fall from 2017, Unfortunately for businesses that use most, if not all, of their self generated electricity then the costs will be high.
The business rates for solar on a typical 100kW installation will rise from £400 per year to £2,700 per year. Until now, installations up to 50kW have been exempt and it is still uncertain if this will continue.
